Food Feeding

Hi,

Today was my Food Feeding Ceremony. They put a garland for me and everyone fed me some sweet rice, or pukkai as Amma would call it.

It was lovely and finger licking goood!

Unlike Annai and Cinnanai who were crying through their food feeding ceremonies, I DID NOT CRY....

I just smiled and smiled and smiled.

See you all soon.

Shaving it all off

Dearest Baby Thangachi,

You're bald today. You did not cry at all, unlike the noisy other baby who was wailing the place down and I had to close my ears with my hands.

You know, they shaved Annai and me when we were very little, but you're lucky enough to be shaved when you're five months old only.......you look weird you know, with the sandalwood paste on your head.....they shaved us at home, but you were shaved at batu Caves....maybe it's because you're a girl and we're boys....and boys are special......

All you did (or ever do) is smile, and smile and smile.

love,
Cinnanai

The day Bagyashri turned over

Hi Bagyashri,

What a commotion two weeks ago at home just because you turned around. Makes me wonder if Amma and Appa were just as excited when Thambi and I turned over as well. Wonder what's going to happen when you start dragging yourself on the floor, we might have a party......

Anyway, you're five months old today, and you're 64cm. Also, you are 5.95kg. Hurry up and put on some weight, baby.

You shouldn't be eating your toe, it's dirty. But personally, I think it tasted really good whileI was allowed to eat mine a few years back. ENJOY it while you can; if you tried it at 4 1/2 years old, Amma will bring the rotan.

Hugs,
Annai

4 months old

Hi,

I'm four months old today. Amma still keeps saying that I'm a gem.....hehehehehe

anyways, I got my jab today...cried a while just to scare the doctor, but then I smiled again when Amma carried me. Doctor says that I have grown to 62cm and at 5.5.kg.

Sometimes when Appa talks to me I nod my head a little just as he does, and this gets Appa really excited=). I just don't like it when Appa kisses me with his beard unshaven, it pokes me so, Appa.......

Searching for Amma

Hi Annai and Cinnanai,

Has anyone seen Amma? I'm spinning around whenever Mina patti puts me on my back to look for Amma. I'm even turning sideways on my right looking for her........

Oh there's Amma......time for me to go and coo at her to get her attention. And I love smiling and smiling at Amma......I want to smile at Appa too, but he's always scolding me and telling me that i need to smile at him more.....

See Appa....Bagyashri's smiling now......bub bye

By the the time I become three months old, I will begin to enjoy my bath...and I would have stopped crying. how do I know? I'm physic.

My first entry.....

Hi there,

Thanks for reading my blog. I'm very excited to write, and I will help Amma and Appa update this as much as we can.

I've completed two months today, and I think I've been a pretty good baby so far. I drink milk every three hours or so and then play for an hour before wailing my heart out to signal that I am sleepy. Amma and the nanny Ghandhima fuss over me while I sleep and then two hours later I awake again. When I'm awake, I'm constantly entertained by Annai and Chinnanai, and i try my best to be active by spinning to the right. I make about a 35 degree turn and stop there. I also play with my baby gym, but listening to Annai and Chinnanai is by far more fun.

Amma says I'm the easiest baby so far among the lot. I drink my last feed about 8 every night and then only wake up for the next feed around 3 or 4am. I'm giving you as much rest as you can get before my tummy rumbles Amma......

I heard Annai and Chinnanai had pretty bad bouts of colic at my age, but I've been blessed to not have any of those so far. Maybe because I've feeding on Amma's milk more than both my brothers did. Amma says boys are always so greedy and her milk was never enough. Well, it's enought for me Amma.....

I'm 55 cm and 4.5kgs now, and I'll grow and grow and grow I guess.

Okay then, Bagyashri will sign off now. I'll keep everyone posted.

Oh...did I mention I've already travelled to Sitiawan at this tender young age? Had no clue what was happening, all's well as long as Amma and Appa are near by.

Bagyashri's 30th- minus the bald head=)

To my little girl,

You'll always be the princess at home.Your Amma's queen of course, no denying that=).

So, you had your 30th day prayers today, but you didn't get your hair shaved like your brothers because your 30th day fell on Aadi Ammavasai day. So the 30th day prayers was held on the 31st day of your life, the day on which your hair was supposed to be shaved according to Ceylonese custom. Your Amm's been very particular about this.

Anyway, we've decided that we'll shave your hair in about three months or so. Can't wait to see the shocked looks on your brothers' faces when they see someone shaving your hair off. I just hope they don't beat the barber!

Did I mention that you have the least amount of hair among the three? Funny....I can't wait to see you in pigtails and pony tails......hmmm....I wonder if your Amma will allow you to grow your hair. She always seemed to want to put a clip on Sakkti velan's and Eshvarhen's hair.

Alright, kutty, Appa will write soon. Grow quickly, so you can add to the noise pollution at home. After getting used to it, the silence actually becomes eerie when your brothers are not banging the table, screaming or crying. God and love work in mysterious ways, kutty, trust your old man on this one.

Hugs,
Appa

A baby called Bagyashri

Darling Bagyashri,
Sakkti  Velan’s first blog entry was by himself, and Eshvarhen’s was by your Appa, so I thought it’ll be best for me to enter your first blog.
You’ve completed us, baby, and your Appa and I cannot describe the joy in having you in our circle. Your two brothers are a great joy to us, and now you’ve added to the bliss.
You were born on the 1st of July in 2011. You are the only baby to go the full term, but your Ammama always says girls are patient and they take their time to come out.
Anyways, after a little depression (and few shocks to your Appa)  during labour in which your heatbeat went down ( because my bladder was disturbing your way out of my womb), you were born tiny and wet at 2.04pm.  You squealed the moment the doctor put you on my lap. You’re lucky, because among the three, you had your Appa by your side when you were born, and your Appa cut your umbilical cord (which fell off today).
You were 2.83kg and 48.5 cm at birth, the smallest among the three but a little longer than your Annai who was 48cm.
So I guess I don’t have to describe further that you have two doting brothers who smother you with kisses each time I change you or put you on the couch for a little stretch. Everyone says you look like your Annai, but to me it seems that you have a combination of both your Cinnanai and Annai’s looks. But nobody needs to confirm that you have your Appa’s big nose.
Welcome onboard, sweetheart. We’re blessed to have you.

Big hugs,
Amma
